NMC Convention 2024

The Northern Magic Circle welcomes you to its 2024 convention, on 5th – 7th April at the Crown Hotel in Harrogate.

Romany, the Diva of Magic, is the only female magician to have held the prestigious title of ‘Magic Circle Stage Magician of the Year’, and is the only British winner of the Las Vegas World Magic Award. She has appeared on Penn and Teller, and King Charles said of her: “Absolute genius... and so funny!” Romany will present her full show as the second half of our Saturday night gala, and present her inspiring ‘Spun Into Gold’ lecture on Sunday afternoon to round off the convention.

Franklin the Mind Magician has twice held the title of ‘Mind Magician of the Year’, and is widely recognised as one of the leading exponents of this branch of magic. He will be lecturing, and performing in the gala show.

Andrew Normansell creates his own magic, and has performed extensively in the UK and abroad. With over 25 years of experience, he will be passing on valuable advice in a lecture and offering some of his very commercial routines for sale.

Emily Brown is a national award-winning ventriloquist and vocalist. She has cleverly combined these two art forms in a totally unique and distinctive way to create a stunning show incorporating beautifully crafted puppets and comedy; including audience participation involving a member of the audience transformed into a vent puppet! All this combined with her impressive vocal ability, performing classical arias as a ventriloquist and many other styles of song, create a fun-filled act to remember.

Oliver Tabor is the immediate Past-President of the British Ring of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and a multiple award-winner; star of ‘West End Magic’ and ‘Illusion Impossible’. He will be making a special guest appearance following his great success last year.

Oliver will be joined by Wayne Trice, also from West End Magic, whose quick-fire patter routines will leave you laughing and amazed.

Chris Wardle is a multiple award-winning creator of magic with a range of books to his credit. A Member of the Inner Magic Circle, he has produced effects for television and has two long-running series in the Key Ring and Magic Circular magazines. Chris will be presenting the Donald Bevan Lecture at our convention.

Philip Partridge, the current President of the British Ring, will be joining us for the weekend and presenting spots on the gala show and after-dinner cabaret. Philip is one of the North West’s most successful children’s entertainers as well as being an award winner with his own style of comedy magic. 

Kay Murray is the daughter of Trixie Queen, who was a trail-blazer as one of the top female magicians of her generation.  Kay will be talking about her mother in the popular ‘History of Mystery’ slot, demonstrating many of her props, revealing some fascinating facts and telling some amusing tales about her long life.
